Genetically Engineered Critters

Students in Ms. Kelley's and Ms. Weber's honors science classes have taken their
study of genetic engineering to the next level, the creation of brand new animal species!
Students researched the topic of genetic engineering, then using Switch Zoo created their
own personal animal species using the Computer "Lab"oratory! Then students had to
determine specific characteristics of their new animal. Finally, they shared their animals
and their classmates voted to see which animals were "Most Realistic," "Most Creative,"
and "The Animal I'd Most Like to See in a Zoo." It was a very fun way to apply their study
of DNA and Genetic Engineering! Check out their imaginative ideas below!

Life Span: These creatures can live up to ten years in the wild. While ones under your bed can live up to fifteen years.

Diet: The ones that live under your bed eat dust and mold when there is a low amount of monsters. Mostly though when this happens they move on to your sibling's beds or on to a different house. They obtain their prey by poisoning the air with loud and smelly burps. This clogs and seals their mouths so they are unable to eat you. Then due to the fact that monsters can only live one night without your fear it dies. Then the burgers take the best part of the animal and roast it over a fire of mold. The ones in the wild though feed on natural food such as flowers and leaves. I also must admit that the ones that live under your bed have such horrible breath, while the ones in the wild have much nicer breath. This is most likely the source why your bedroom smells.

Characteristics:
* They have brown fur, short, stubby legs, with a dog like tail, and a squirrel like head.
* Hideous breath
* Brave little creatures
* Action like reflexes
* Able to follow the speed limits when running.
* Their call for others to come is a sound that sounds lie a two year old having a temper tantrum.
* It is the size of a baby kitten
* Is able to camouflage with its surroundings
* It can swim under water like a fish
* Able to burrow under ground
* Sharp monster whipping skin claws
* Highly sensitive ears to hear a monster lurking nearby.
* Able to roll into a ball to escape danger
* Usually happy until provoked
* Able to climb almost vertical mountains do to their sticky paws

Scientist: Deborah Waddick

Common Name: Burgers (for bed dweller) and CiCi (mountain dwellers)

Scientific Name: Begerac ies (Bur-gur-act eyes) and Cimionese izza (Sim-on-is is-a)

Habitat: This small and strange creature (Burgers) lives in dusty, moldy, and on carpeted floors. This is due to their weird taste for dust and mold. These creatures though only like the warm and soft type of carpets since they have very sensitive skin. They treat this with Aveeno. Some of the wilder types (CiCis) though live in cold mountainous areas that are near mattress shops in case they have to hide from predators. This also insures that when you get new bed, monsters do not come with it.

Geographical Range: The homeland area for these small animals is above the equator in the areas of North America, Europe, and Asia. In these continents it is only under your bed to scare off monsters under the bed or in the mountainous areas near mattress shops. (For the kids below the equator there is a different breed of this animal only it lives in your closet).

Common Name: Gereldean-Cat Thing Grasshopper Bird

Scientific Name: Gereldeannius maxiumus

Diet:
Grasses, bark, fish, berries, and other vegetation

Characteristics:
Donkaebos have a thick outer coat to protect them from the cold year round. Its ears are highly sensitive to hear the slightest noise of predators around a ½ mile distance. The claws are long and sharp to help catch the slimmest fish. The pads are rough to help grab onto the icy snow near water. The legs need to be strong so they can carry donkaebos though swift water. For donkaebos have in obsessive compulsive disease, they are all born with it. As you must imagine its pretty hard to have problems like this out in the wild. They also have a obsession for a clean body unlike some animals so that's why the skin underneath the heavy coat is very slick so when it touches the cold icy water it won't get to the animal and freezes it to death. The animal's only defense against predator is its high HEE-HAW. Its can be heard from a mile away which the predator goes into shock which usually gives these smart animals time to hide or swim into the water. Because of the Donkaebos legs are so small and stubby, that when the animal runs it find it's self-running with its legs spread as far as they can go so it won't fall. The animal's height is about half the size of an average 13-year-old human. Its mind is about as smart as an 8 year old human. Aside from all these characteristics all together it shy but very friendly.
